I joined GYCC in late 2014, due to some health issues and needing to lose some weight so I bought myself a bike and wanted to meet other cyclists for advice and people to ride with. I joined the Saturday morning social rides and progressed from there, I found the club members to be very friendly, helpful and encouraging in my quest to improve my fitness. As time went on I started joining the other club rides and progressed to the fast(ish) group rides which I now help to lead. I also lead the Saturday social rides which I enjoy thoroughly as it is what kickstarted my love of cycling and It’s always really pleasing to see others start cycling and then progress to other groups or even time trialling or racing.
Around 2016 I was invited onto the committee as the social secretary and then in late 2018 I was asked if I would like to be club secretary which certainly keeps me busy with all the communication and paper work required to keep a busy active club such as GYCC functioning!
