The women’s cycling season is firmly underway, a host of early spring races, known as the classics have come and gone and the momentum is now firmly focused on the UCI Women’s Worldtour events. The inaugural Worldtour aims to provide a significant boost to the sport with a total of 35 days of racing, including the for mentioned Spring Classics, exciting stage races held worldwide as well as other competitions linked to the men’s UCI WorldTour races.
Suffolk & Norfolk yet again plays host to the Women’s Tour as it rolls into the county later this month, not only riding through our beautiful countryside, but starting on the Amber Coast, where Southwold will play host to some of the best female bike riders in the world.
To celebrate the fact the Women’s Tour is visiting the county, I got together with two of our female riders, Linzi & Louise to ride some of the Suffolk stage and talk about their cycling and more importantly who their top tips are for the WorldTour stage race that will grace Suffolk & Norfolk on the 15th June.
The magazine feature, which will be published in the June edition of EADT Suffolk Magazine features a few images of the ladies as they departed a rather sunny Southwold and cycled through the Suffolk Countryside along the Tour route, grasping a feel for the terrain the pro riders will attack in a few months.
Of course, like all good rides, it ended with rather wonderful coffee and cake!
